What's going on in the Computer Learning Center at North Shore Senior Center, Northfield, Illinois. We offer more than 100 computer courses each year. Every Friday morning, we offer FREE computer assistance from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. This is a fabulous opportunity for seniors (of any age) to learn, improve, and master the computer, smart phones or tablets.

We are just about to complete one of our busiest weeks. In addition to a high number of classes and workshops, we offered four presentation to North Shore Senior Center's volunteers to introduce them to the activities of the Computer Learning Center. Computer Assistance
A group of volunteers are available weekly to answer your computer questions, try to resolve your computer problems, and help you with a computer course you may be taking. Have a question about your laptop? Bring it in and we will help you learn more about it. This is an open lab, and availability of computers is on a first come, first served basis.

Be Smart with Your Smartphone

The capabilities of a smartphones seem almost endless, and it can be a bit overwhelming to try to master one of these devices. This course introduces new smartphone users to their devices and the myriad ways in which they can connect to the world. Areas covered include pros and cons of smartphones, basic setup, and operation, basic functions such as contact lists, text messages, calendars, email, and even phone operation. We will cover the audio functions, camera, GPS, games, app stores, software, internet browsers, office functions, cloud storage, social media, mobile versions of standard web sites, and other fun stuff. Participants must have a smartphone and basic computer skills.

Introduction to Genealogy

Word Processing for Beginners

Browsing the Browser

How to Use Your Digital Camera

Introduction to Photo Editing

Using Photoshop Elements 9, learn the basics of improving your photos, whether taken with a digital camera or a film camera.
